Hi there everyone, I know there have been a few posts asking about this same subject (Yes, a newbie did a search) but none have fully answered my current question. I am looking into buying a new MacBook very soon, although will be waiting a few weeks until the (rumoured) update. The only thing is that, I don't want to pay £100 for a black paint-job (black is not 'Mac' to me) but I would like a faster and larger HDD. The problem there is that Apples current largest option (200 Gb) is only a 4200 rpm (and I'm currently finding the 5400 on this Mac Mini a bit of a chore). So if I replaced it myself, which from the 'Upgrade Thread' looks very simple - what model should I go for? I know that it needs to be a 2.5" SATA drive, but I am unaware as to the maximum rpm (don't want to melt the inside of my MacBook). I have seen a 200Gb Hitachi Travelstar which runs at 7200rpm and I was wondering if this model would fit the bill?

Any suggestions welcome, Thanks,

Yeah, the MacBook handles 7200RPM drives easily. By the way, I totally agree with you about the black thing. :)
Thanks for that info, Always useful to know these things before shelling out a couple of hundred quid :)
Hope the new MacBooks are still White!
