Macbook question: help a newbie plz

I know it's kinda trivial. But when I run mac msn messenger (althought i save the dmg file in the application), the disk image dislike on the main desktop. I was wondering how to erase it. The same thing also happen with firefox.

I am trying my best to avoid desktop clutter-!

Copy the App from the DMG to your Applications folder and then trash the DMG. DMG's are just disk images, they are similar to a zip file. Sounds like a noob to me.
