is it possible to charge the macbook's battery, without the macbook being present?

would be great for security when i have to leave it on charge in a public place ;)

You mean like the battery charger that came with your Makita drill? That's a good question; I don't know why Apple hasn't come up with a separate charger. Yeah, a MacBook, 2 batteries, a charger and a case.
