Are P,[,] working? Or is the entire row broken?

It was just the keys mentioned in my original post.

tried rebooting?

I've tried with both numlock on and off and it still refuses to work. Restarted, Shutdown, everything... :S

I was all ready to take my laptop to the apple shop in Birmingham today to get it fixed, had an appointment and everything to see what they could do. However, this morning its decided to work. No idea why, but it's just started working. When i had a USB device plugged in, the plug kinda went up and made a creaky sound so i don't know if this contributed to it to start working or not, all i know is that it's working again and i don't have to back all my crap up and get it carted off for repairs/a new one. Yay. :D

I'd still get your Macbook checked out, as soon as you can find the time.

You may want to (if under warentee get the Apple Care Guys To) take the keyboard off and reseat it. Sometimes it is in crooked or problem with the connectors. You keyboard could be cracked too.

Bah, i spoke too soon. The problem came back this morning. So i reckon there is a problem. Already booked it in to be checked out, just gotta pop to the apple store. It's a very weird problem. I have applecare as well, so an added bonus, it's just a bloody pain, seeing as i'm on macbook number 2 already. I got it the weekend core 2 duo was released, too.

Bah, and now it's working again. I think it's something to do with my headphone and usb ports, because i plugged my headphones in to use them, then took them out and the keys began to work again. How exactly can i explain that to the guys at apple though, if they can't see the problem for themselves?

I guess you couldn't possibly bring, say, those headphones to the store with you and show them, ya know, what exactly is happening?

Honestly, I don't understand how some people function every day without written instructions.

just go and get it REPLACED under warranty.

my wife's MBP had the same problem, however it was other keys...

u think y,h,n, and the space bar.. and a few other keys.. one of the shift keys, etc. totally stopped working.

a PRAM reset and a few other tricks from apple's tech support solved it very temporarily... it kept coming back and back and back, I even did a full re-install of the OS to try that.

get it replaced.

Had the same problem and almost got mad. Browsed internet for weeks, found dozens of solutions and non of them worked. Keys "qwertyuio" simple did not repond. I have connect the Apple bluotooth keyboard and managed to work like that for some time, but at a certain point the situation became unbearable - I decided to format and reisntal the whole OS. I backed up all my data and did what had to be done.

The first moments with the clean OS were without trouble and the keyboard worked. The fist app I have installed was Google Chrome and as I have started the first time, voila, the same problem - keys "qwertyuio" got stuck! I got suspicious and removed Chrome from my system. Instantly all returned back to normal. At this point shoud say, that I have used Chrome as my default browser before and perhaps it was enough to remove it and perhaps it was not necessary to reinstal the OS. I will never know.

With Chrome gone from my MacBook Air, I have installed Firefox and we are very happy together.
Hope it will work for you guys as well.
Cheers!

How did you removed a Chrome? Just by dragging this App to your Trash ? Then there are still a lot of Chrome remains in your system. Either find and wipe them with some app like "CleanMyMac" or reinstall your system completely. And better to forget about Chrome because it is aggressively phoning home

Intermittent faults are irritating. I had an issue with my graphics card and every time I got to Apple it was fine. I took a video on the third appointment they saw it and replaced. Take a video my advise would be.

You guys are responding to a thread from 2006. Probably not relevant.

It's relevant as it is still happening.
I had that too.
Funny thing - Turning OFF Bluetooth fixed that!
Another question: will Apple fix that for me as it seems like some design bug?
