Can you tell us what Mac you have ( Model and year) and what version of Mac OS you are running ? You can find this by clicking on the Apple logo and choosing 'About this Mac'

Is the Mac still running when you close the lid or have you shut it down ?

I have the MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 4 thunderbolts 1TB ssd and 16GB RAM. I’m using macOS Big Sur 11.0.1. I had this issue since I got the MacBook. When you close the lid more than 5 minutes it restarts However the apps running before the restart they remain there.

Are you running the latest version of Big Sur - If you click the Version text in the about This Mac window it will tell you the build.

You should be running build 20B29, if you installed the public beta you could still be on 20B28. I had a problem with my iMac rebooting when I was shutting down with 20B28 and it was fixed moving to 20B29

If you are running the latest version try resetting PRAM and the SMC

First, reset your NVRAM or PRAM. The easiest way to do this is to press the Option + Command + P + R keys simultaneously as your Mac turns back on. Hold these keys down for around 20 seconds.

Second, reset your System Management Controller, or SMC. There are a few different ways to do this based on your Mac model, so take a look at the specific instructions for each case.

I have tried all the options above; however, the problem persists.

I would try booting your Mac in safe mode

Start up an Intel-based Mac in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu

    > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds.
  2. Restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key.
  3. Release the Shift key when you see the login window.

See if the problem is still there. If the problem is gone in safe mode then it is likely to be a software issue.

What are your power management settings?

If you enter

pmset -g

in Terminal it will show all current settings.
