Hello all.

How long has it taken from Apple to "release" rev.b. versions? I´m going to get a macbook sometime during fall, but I´d like to know if it´ll be "upgraded" (fixed bugs. etc.) sometime before...

Nobody here can tell you that definately.

It depends on your definition of revision. Most hardware manufacturers make minor revisions quite frequently that are never announced. The next time you'll probably see a major revision of the MB is when they speed-bump the MBs with new chips. That'll be when the chips are ready, when Intel has delivered enough of them to Apple's facility, and when Apple has enough in stock to meet their expected sales demand.

So, who knows??

Considering Apple isn't really acknowledgeing these "problems" and is saying they are "within spec". There is no guarantee the next rev will be anything more than an upgrade and still exhibit the same issues.

the rev.b of the macbooks will probably not see light of day for about another year, your looking at next summer....

Whereas we should see a new MacBook pro as soon as August and definatly by the end of 2006,

Agreed, heard this from an Apple executive's mouth. It's how they...and i quote "stay two steps ahead of the competition" supposedly.

Staying ahead of the competition?

Hello? They are behind! The Windows world already had a headstart in terms of defect count!

Well maybe 'rev B' might not be out but I dont see why Macbooks won't have Merom and the newer intergrated graphics chip around August/September when Merom ships. Unless of course, Macbook becomes the cheap, slightly out of date 13" notebook (with Yonah) and they bring a newer 12/13" Macbook Pro with top specs to fill the gap.

If Macbook does come with Merom and intergrated chip by then, I don't see why it couldnt be enough change to be called a new rev.

I'm hoping for a "quiet release" of the macbook pro rev.b with merom so that apple won't waste it's time with marketing the damn thing and just get enough of them out with as little manufacturing problems as possible. Please not a repeat of the heat, noise, case seperation trilogy.
