i may be behind the times, but i've come from a dell inspiron 8600. while i've never had a single issue with that machine, it's about 3 years old now.

i am now scanning for antivirus' in XP via parallels, running transmission, typing this and everything is running with 100% smoothness.

i was taking notes while running transmission (a good amount of files) while installing XP, and my worry was updating to SP2, not the slightest hiccup.

for those with any doubt, let it be gone. the ONLY reason to not get one if you're in the market for a laptop would be the integrated graphics. even still, she's working like a champ.

forgot to mention it's the 1.83 loaded up with 2gb. of ram from that sale at best buy.

for just about 1300 all said and done, it's well worth it...

next step, fedora core 5 via parallels...

If you can get yourself one with no mooing/heat issues, then the Macbook truly is a fantastic machine. I'm in love with mine. My best ever purchase.

she's quiet as can be until i pop in a CD, and she woke up a bit when i was downloading and installing service pack 2 for XP, but other than that i can't believe how quiet it is.

and about the heat, i haven't noticed anything i wouldn't expect out of a machine this powerful in such a confined package

my MBP was down to 27C this morning. i've never had it go below 25 but the most it's been off is about 10 hours - maybe if i let it be for longer it'd get cooler.

i couldn't help but laugh to myself at this.

i've had it since saturday and i've already got such a random assortment of crap on it it's not even funny.

definitely keeping parallels for Office, but i've got a lot i need to get rid of at this point. that's not including the tweaking i've gotta do yet.

i just still can't believe how solid of a machine this is for the bottom of Apple's rung. i used to have one of those black powerbooks with the bronze keyboard and it was a good machine, but nowhere near what these macbooks are.

and to anyone who's on the fence, go for it. i don't think there's any need for the 2.0 unless you want to burn DVDs (might as well get a decent external was my logic). the average user won't even put a strain on this thing...

Mine is running around 20 degrees celcius as well.

kinda of worried about that, but when i reboot it sometimes, it runs around 56

I was looking for something to check mine but not found anything yet.
