Macbook screen and Photos

Hey guys, haven't posted here in awhile. I have an iMac which is great, and I just sold my 12 inch powerbook. I'm getting a new laptop for college this fall, and initially I thought I was going to get a Macbook Pro (I even placed an order, but cancelled it) but I've decided to get a Black Macbook instead. My only question is, I've heard photos don't look the same on the glossy screens as they do on matte screens (which I'm sure the majority of computer users have), and that the colors are altered to a certain degree. I do photography as a hobby, shooting on a Canon Rebel XT, and then doing a few touch ups in iPhoto on my iMac, and I am wondering how much different photos look on a glossy macbook screen then say, a matte iMac screen? It wouldn't be the greatest if I touched up the photos to look terrific on the macbook screen, but then they don't look any good on other screens.

Edit: I am not taking the iMac with me to school, so I won't be able to look at my photos on that.

The primary difference is that the colors look overly rich. The color tend to move away from the center of the spectrum, and go to their extreme ends. I'm sure you'll get used to it after a little while though. This is one of the reasons why a macbook was unpalatable to me.

I'd advise looking at both in person before buying anything.
Personally, I can't stand the glossy screens.
It would be good if you're a spy and need to see what's going on behind you all of the time, I guess.

Thanks for the help, but I'm not trying to decide between glossy and matte. I am just wondering how much of a difference there is in photo quality on a macbook's screen then any other computer screen. Anyone else have any first hand experience?

It is probably a matter of taste. The difference I figure is close to the difference between glossy and matte photo paper. You could like either one or you may prefer one in some situations or for some pictures and prefer the other one in some other cases.
