I have connected a MBPro to my TV via HDMI, however I am at a loss as to keeping the monitor blank I have ticked & unticked all the Mirroring options in fact all the options listed under the display icon in the menu bar haven't had the desired effect nor can I find a relevant fix in Display references it's a laboured post I know but any help will be appreciated. It is a basic 2017 model running the High Sierra OS.

As long as the lid is open, the screen will function. If you don't want the screen on, connect a keyboard and close the lid.

The number one thing I say is download this software called InsomniaX it is a software that lets your Mac run even if it is closed and then set up a keyboard and also a mouse though make sure that the keyboard is a Mac format wireless keyboard and also try to use a wired mouse as that putting two wireless device at once is possible though will sort of give a struggle on OS X and make sure you have a good hdmi cable cheap hdmi cable will tend to disconnect with the smallest movement so try to stay in the midrange of 15$ for your cable and you shall be all set to use your Mac on the tv.

A belated thanks!
