Last night I shut my macbook (white 2.0) down. I never close the lid till I see the screen go black. This morning when i went to grab my macbook to use it....it was HOT!!!! The white light on the side was on, I opened the lid and the screen was black, I tried to power on and nothing, I finally get it to turn on and immediatly read the core temp and it was 151 F. Well today I turned it off again came back to it 40 minutes later to turn it on and use it and the white light was on and it was hot again. What is going on?? Any suggestions?

If you shut the lid before its shts down completely it will stay on in some weird limbo mode, where its neither asleep nor awake... There are many threads about it.. Also i have that even after the screen turns black if you close the lid to soon it will happen, so its best to just shut it off, wait a second after it goes black and then close it.. or just dont close the lid unless you need to bring it somewhere...

Why shut down if you're moving it someplace and need to use it.

My iBook lives in sleep and I can't remember the last time I shut it down. Particuarly if I had safe sleep I'd never shut it down...

I guess I last shut it down completely when going on a plane...

So i is not bad the mac book to leave it on ALL the time? Does it automatically go to sleep when you close the lid?

I think I am closing the lid to soon. Even though the screen is going black I need to give it a few seconds. Other then that my macbook is doing wonderful!! I upgraded the ram today and I can tell a difference. So I think I can say that I am very pleased with my first apple!

No, it's not bad at all -- I've done this with every Mac laptop I've had (including a white 2.0 Macbook) and can't imagine doing anything else. That way you can always leave your applications open and resume right where you left off next time you use it. And since the Macbook has safe sleep, you're even covered when the battery runs out if you're away from power for a few weeks.

Congrats. Make sure you test the memory to be sure it's working well.
