I got this silicone keyboard cover form OnlyCoolToys.com. It works like it is supposed to. It is going to take some getting used to. At first I really didn’t like it, but I’ve been using it just to get over the initial rejection of it, and it is growing on me. It makes the keys silent and soft as you type. If anything happens (spills, crumbs, dust) at least this will help. Anyway, it should do the job.

Sorry about the last pic. I rotated it, but it didn't post the way I intended.

thanks

Thanks for posting the review. Do you feel like your macbook is running hotter with the keyboard cover? What didn't you like about it at first?

Well, when I use it I always put something under the rear to lift it. I never have any heat issues this way. I usually use a small book or something, so heat is never an issue.

But about the typing, it kinda felt like typing with gloves on at first, if you know what I mean. The keys are normally solid, but this changes the feel of them. I have since gotten used to it. I am fine with it now. I'm glad I got it. It will prolonge the keys if it doesn't do anything else. So when it is time to sell, it will get a few more bucks because of the condition that it's in.

It has a full body Invisibleshield, keyboard protector, and screen protector (microfiber cloth that covers keys). Body armor if you will. ;)

what is difficult to fit the invisibleshield? it looks tricky to me - the possibility of bubbles etc

The large sheet that covers the top was quite a task to apply. I used a lot of foul language during those stressful 30 minutes. But the smaller pieces were a breeze.

Just wanted to update this and say that the cover is a lot softer now and typing is a lot faster. Maybe cause I'm used to it, but the cover has definately loosened up a bit. Any dislikes I had about it are now gone, and it is very comfortable.

Its great looking, and working well is for sure a plus!
But that still leaves me with one question: Can you still see the caps lock and num lock lights clearly throught the solid black silicone?

I was thinking of buying the white one for my white macbook, but if you cant see the green lights its kinda, well, bad.

so whats the deal with the lights?
Thanks

No you cannot see the lights. Not a big deal for me, but if I wanted to I could just use a small hole puncher and make a nice hole there. That is a good idea. I think I'll do that. I've seen small hole punchers somewhere. Hmm...

The sell hole punchers that make 1/16" holes. That is perfect.

I work at a coffee shop and we get these big vacuum sealed cans of beans. They come with a little rubber valve thingy to keep the air in. I collect them and use four on top of my desk in each corner to get my MB up off it. They are like a rubber washer, the size of a nickle, and about 1/3 inch thick. it works well.

I would like to get the exo skin too because it is much cheaper!!
ANd i have a black macbook..i am wondering if I should get the ice or the black one... anyone got a picture of both of them? as for the black skin..does it wear off like the original macbook keyboard and look shiny at places being touched a lot?? ANd about the transparent one, does it feel good as the iskin one? I really like the feel of that one..but ..it looks a little weird...and have edges coming off the keyboard edge, is that a problem in the exo skin? THanks ~

Yup

I use the iSkin and it's great. Looks just like the ones in your pic. Makes typing easier I think cuz it gives a bit of "grip" to the keys.....i don't know, maybe it's just me.

But I like it. I figure it's the most likely place for dust, cat hair (see avatar) and general crap to get into my Notebook.

So, I dig it.

oh, i like the iskin one too, but the edge is curled up...so i am just wondering if the xskn(exo) skin is better and does the xskn one feel different than iskin? ISn't the white letter go to wear off in the BLACK exo skin?? I wonder...
Thanks again.
