Hi, first of all I'd like to thank everybody for making this adventure of getting a Macbook such a great time. I've been reading the forums for the past couple of months and have found great programs and answers for such a mac newbie as myself.

Right now I have a question to which I couldn't find an answer.

Whenever I put my Macbook to sleep the white led doesn't turn on or blink. I didn't know it should turn on until the past EFI upgrade in which I was supposed to press and hold the power button until the led started flashing, which obviously didn't happen but fortunately ther was a "beep" and the upgrade went well... yes there is a question in al this.

Is there a way to enable/disable the sleep led or it's simply not working and I have to take it to a service center?

Thanks

the sleep light cannot be disabled so either your machine is not sleeping, do you here it power down when put to sleep??, or the light is broken :D

Yes, the machine sleeps, either by closing the lid, reaching the time specified in energy saver or by pressing the power button and selecting sleep. But in neither case the sleep light turns on. So I was afraid of it being broken, will have to take it to the service center, do you have any idea of what should I expect? (repair, replacement) the machine is only a month old, but the light never worked, I didn't know it was supposed to turn on

thank you

i say ur lucky. That damn light is very annoying IMO, but I guess it at least warns you that the computer is asleep. (not that that helps anything anyway since you'd have to open it to power up, and if its sleeping it would boot up automatically)

i agree.

to the OP: first, call Apple to see what they say. if you still have a problem, take it to an Apple store.
