My wife's MB is in clamshell mode all the time. It's hooked up to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.vikas soni said:Dont even think about that. My MB was shutting down and I simply closed the lid assuming it was off. But for some reason it stayed on even though the lid was closed. I came back to my room after bout 10-12 minutes and picked up the MB to place it in the closet. To my surprise, the MB was so hot that I almost threw it on the bed out of surprise. I then opened the lid only to find out it wasnt off. I couldnt touch it at all. The screen, keyboard, lower body of MB were extremely hot. I m sure if I had left it on with lid closed for more than an hour; my MacBook would have been toasted.
So IMHO dont leave the MB on with lid closed. No way.
That would really annoy me, not only would I look stupid in the coffee shop surfing with my mouth open but there's a risk of drooling onto the keyboard.beloved84 said:macbook sleeps when lip closes

MoparShaha said:You can change it in Terminal. The command is pmset. You can do a man search to find out the options.

It shouldn't get too hot to touch with the lid closed.
DevilDog said:Well what if you're in the middle of burning a DVD or compressing a movie? You can't just pull it out of sleep and have the disc resume burning... I'm interested to find a way to keep it going while shut. My classes at school are like 50 minutes long and usually the stuff I do takes longer than that. It would be might convenient.
