Evening all,

Can anyone recommend a good sleeve for a macbook?

I haven't bought anything yet but my budget is £25 (max.)

I don't really want one that says "There's a laptop in this sleeve, please steal it!", but i'd like one that will take the rough ' n ' tumble of being in a college student's bag filled with books and notes

How good are the cheapest ones from the Apple store?

Thanks in advance

Search on this, and you will find - I'm not kidding - about a million threads. The ones from Apple, Incase (that's the brand, btw), are good.

i have a foof bag. its not the MOST protective of bags (i.e. don't hold your breath if you drop your computer) but its not like a computer bag because it is made of tons of different fabric you can choose from (i have blue tweed). I have been to gigs where my friends were completly shocked that the funny blue bag in my book bag was a computer, so I'd say it doesn't scream 'i am a nice new expensive computer' at people. So, good enough for carting around at college, but ok for the afters bit too!

anyways i think as long you don't have a computer brief case or anything that looks like it obviously contains a computer you'll be fine

I personally own an STM Medium Cargo, and it's quite good. Followed me around Japan for a couple of weeks. The included case on the Medium is intended for a 15" notebook, but it fits the Macbook fine with more than enough padding. There's a bit of horizontal drift, but not enough to worry about. There's also the Small Cargo for 13" notebooks, which they didn't have when I bought mine. Might be worth a look.

Just ordered myself one of these Tucano Second Skin Guaina for my MacBook. I would have preferred the brown one, but I couldn't find it at AppleStore Norway when I ordered... :(

I have had a Tucano Second Skin on my 12" iBook "forever" (and my grlfriend has even inherited that skin) and that kept my iBook safe through some potentially damaging incidents... :)

I've also got a foofbag, and am most pleased with it.

It's a flasy red color ("firetruck red"), and i've yet to encounter the first person who knew it was a computer (when seeing me with it for the first time). I jam it in my backpack with my coursebooks all the time, and it's protection enough for that (scratching and skewing from books, keys, other sharp material,..). But just don't drop you 'book with it.

(it's also a great buffer for between your legs and the laptop to keep away the heat a bit :p)

I received my incase sleeve on Friday, my MBP is here on Monday :D I get to stare at a sleeve that will eventually hold my MBP.. oh the agony :)

It looks protective, ill be putting my MBP in the sleeve then putting the sleeve in to my backpack, hopefully that will help to keep it out of harms way :)

So far i really want the shinza shock protection one, but since they dont make macbook sized ones, i have been thinking about getting the 'fake' shock protective one off ebay.. anyone have any luck with them?

They are just black, and have that foam inside, its pretty much a thin sleeve but it claims to be protective in very bad english :D

I already bought a laptop backpack and I would also like to have a sleeve to put my macbook in for extra protection. Any good ones for about 30 bucks?

When I got my MacBook, I was looking for the same thing in the same price range. I went with a bitolithic sleeve. Bitolithic is an Austrailian company, and for about 35 bucks you get the neoprene sleve (which fits perfectly), a screen protector for when the book is closed, and a neoprene bag which I use for wires and stuff. Check them out.

I bought this one recently for my Macbook (which I still haven't ordered  ) it looks pretty good on the outside. Though obviously as I'm waiting for the fresh new salad rather than the seemingly limp old salad from April, I haven't tested it out...
