Macbook sometimes ejects copied dvd-r 's

I have a 13" macbook with a superdrive and I'm having trouble playing burned dvds. I use mac the ripper and then dvd2onex2 to copy my dvds because im taking my collection with me to college, but certain discs keep ejecting and dont show up on the desktop. They will usually play when i use boot camp to boot up in windows. I know that its not a problem with the software because I have VLC also and it wont work either. I've been using dvd-rs and for the most part works. The weirdest thing is that its not that it never works, it just becomes really difficult with me sometimes. For example, a disc burns succesfully and when I try to play it, it will work, but if i try another day, it could eject it 10 times and then play.

Note that copying DVD's, even DVD's you own, is illegal in the United States. I'm not sure about the laws in other countries but I'm sure they're similar in most first world countries.

However, we can help you with copied DVD-R's as long as we don't know what's on them.
For some reason, the Combo- and SuperDrives that come on Macs are very picky about the brand of disk you put in them. It's kind of weird, because they use slot-loading drives in most cars and those work with any CD's.

It's really trial and error to find the right brands, but if you have an external CD drive (USB or FireWire, whatever) that'll probably* work for you.

*I only say this in the event that if it doesn't work, you can't get mad at me.

Copy protection. Certain DVDs let you copy stuff, but it installs software on your computer to record what you do with it, spyware so to speak (blame the MPAA). They don't feel like making stuff for the Mac because people wouldn't use it. There are musician's cds that say specifically, doesn't work for Mac. It's because of copy protection, stupid RIAA/MPAA.

At least that's one explanation. I'm sure there are others.

thanks for your help guys, but do you think those answers apply if the discs sometimes play, because some of my discs play flawlessly and some give me problems but can still play. They are all memorex dvd-rs

Did you try thegreatluke's suggestion of different branded DVDs? I too have heard of this happening, and if you could eliminate the brand of DVDs that would be helpful.
