is it normal for the CD/DVD drive to make a mechanical sound when you wake up a MacBook by opening the lid? I love my new MacBook and this is the only concern I have (and its probably just normal??). If anyone is thinking about waiting before buying......DON'T!
Hope someone can allay my fears

thanks

By mechanical sound I'm guessing you mean the eject mechanism. Yes it's perfectly normal. :)

Occasionally, my MB makes a "whoosh" like sound. Kinda sounds like air escaping...what the heck is that? This usually happens when my MB wakes up...not when i restart it.

Ideas?

fan controller, when it first turns back on it kicks up to full speed for a split second before the controller slows them back down

Mine almost sounds like someone is doing like a record scratch for a hip-hop song.

You want to really be freaked out put a CD in the drive. Makes me cringe each and every time I do it.

Yup it is completely normal. It is just checking to see if there is a cd in there. The HD makes a noise too because it starts spinning again.

my mbp makes a sound similar to scrunching up paper when its opened from sleep... 0_0

I get this too on my macbook, it sounds exactly like scrunching paper. It is similar to emptying the trash, but not the same. it seems to move from the left speaker to the right. It is kinda weird, any idea what causes this??
