Hello, my MacBook speakers are getting muffled and buzzing when playing music. I tried restarting my Mac and refreshing and force quitting coreaudiod, this makes it a bit better, but I have to keep doing it everyday because my speakers get worse. Is there any fix for this? I ran a diagnostic test and it said no problems with my Mac. Is this hardware, firmware, or software?

If the speakers are buzzing, it’s probably a hardware problem. Does it sound like the buzzing sound is a resonation in the laptop or does it appear to be a sound from the speakers? What software are you using?

It is coming from the speaker. But when I quit coreaudiod in activity monitor it gets slightly better. I am using macOS 12.2 and I have a MBA M1.

In that case, it’s a software problem… try different software to play music and see if the problem stands. If that fixes it, it’s a problem with the software you are using. If it doesn’t, I recommend taking it to your local Genius Bar or computer repair store :)

Please let me know what you decide to do.

It keeps happening. I have used a different software and the same things have happened. I think taking it the Genius Bar is the best option.

Yes, I would recommend taking it to the Genius Bar and see what they say.

There are huge issues nowadays for some of us and it has to be a software issue, for some it happens to have audio problems even with Airpods. I mostly hate it when I starat to have buzzing on my wired headphones, it's unbearable, i heat the buzzing even when I scroll around, even moving the cursor on PhpStorm. When I reboot everything is fine for a bit.
