Hi.

My Macbook stalled yesterday. It will start up and I can move the mouse around on but not click on anything. Also the clock etc. in the right corner does not appear...

Any idea what to do???

Try running fsck to repair the file system. :)

Have you made any changes to the hardware or software configuration recently? What exactly were you doing when this started? :)

Hi, MJ. Thank you!

I was trying to install office on it, but it wouldn´t recognize the CD. Had to get it out by pressing the trackpadbutton while starting up.

So, I pop in my OS disc, start it up whgile pressin "c". Will it do anything to the documents on it?

Ah, okay, you're booting from the CD. It'll take you to the OS installer but in one of the menus (one named Installer perhaps, I forget) there should be a link to Disk Utility. Click on it. From here, select your hard drive on the left hand side and click Repair Disk on the bottom right. This may take a little while but it won't (well, it shouldn't) delete anything or affect your documents in any way. Best of luck. :)

If Disk Utility fails to put you back in touch with your documents, try Data Rescue II. There is a demo download on their site that will let you see if DRII can see the data. It also ships with a boot disk. A really remarkable program.

Thank you, both. as I am writing this (on the office PC), I am re-installing OS. Hopefully that should take care of things. I took out my files, starting up the Macbook as an external drive...
