Hi everyone, recently the Sudden Motion Sensor on my Macbook stopped to work. In the System Profiler, there's this line:
Sudden Motion Sensor: Disabled
Weird, eh?
I tryed the following in Terminal:
pmset -g
here is what showed up:
Active Profiles:
Battery Power -1
AC Power -1*
Currently in use:
womp 1
sms 1
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
acwake 0
sleep 0
autorestart 0
halfdim 1
hibernatemode 3
disksleep 10
displaysleep 20
lidwake 1
As you can see, it says that the SMS is turned on... I tryed to change its value to "0" and back to "1" with:
sudo pmset -a sms 0
pmset -g
sudo pmset -a sms 1
pmset -g
I even tryed to set it to "0" then to reboot, put it back to "1", reboot and so on, it still shows up as "Disabled" in system profiler. I tryed many applications that works with the SMS and none of them works (They used to).
If I load AMSTracker in Terminal, the SMS values are always the same (It doesn't detect any motion).
I tryed to reset the PRAM & the PMU : no results ;
I tryed to apply the combo 10.4.7 Intel update : no results.
I thought that maybe the sensor was "stuck" so I turned the Macbook off, closed the lid and shaked it like hell to see what happens, no results neither.
Anyone have an idea of what's going on? Should I call Apple? Reinstall OS X?
I can't take it back to an Apple Store as the nearest Apple Store is about 500 miles from where I am (Canada, Quebec).
Any idea?
