Macbook SuperDrive in other systems?

Turns out I had a true series of unfortunate events, which left my MacBook in a condition that's not worth repairing. Now, considering dismantling the thing for parts, all tips are welcome.

I already got a friend asking for the SuperDrive but I was wondering, does the MacBook SuperDrive fit the Mac Mini or the 12" PowerBook?

I already got a friend asking for the SuperDrive but I was wondering, does the MacBook SuperDrive fit the Mac Mini or the 12" PowerBook?

Physically it will fit in there (it is actually thinner than their default drives) but I am not sure if it uses the same mounting brackets because of the thinness. Plus, because it is thinner, making sure that it lines up for the slot load could be a chore.

You will be better off making sure that a MacBook or MacBook Pro owner gets it.

Apparently the fan power outlet went dead from the logic board end so I'd need a new logic board if I wanted to do anything more demanding than watching a maximum of two minutes of YouTube videos. After that the thing overheats and shuts itself down.

Since my warranty is dead and the thing was bought through a company and I even don't have AppleCare (hindsight: stupid thing to have a Rev.A machine without AC), I'd have to pay for the repair myself.

That and I've had it with that MacBook, which has had almost every possible Rev.A fault and a few one-off specials in the less than a year-and-a-half I've had it.

Well, you will be able to sell off the screen, optical drive, hard drive, RAM, and case. The logic board is probably pointless to try and salvage, but maybe try and sell it anyway, see what you can get for it.

How much are you thinking about selling the SuperDrive for? Mine only has the ComboDrive.

It looks like the price + shipping from Europe would cost you more than a brand new SuperDrive, haha.
