Hi,

I was looking at the base macbook model, as it's quite a good deal with HE discount. I currently have a powerbook G4 with an aftermarket dual-layer burner - MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-845S. I would like to swap this drive into the new macbook, as opposed to buying the more expensive model.

I'm pretty certain that the form factor hasn't changed between my old powerbook and the newer macbook's, but just wanted to check if anyone knew for sure?

Cheers,

J

I believe the Macbook is thinner than the Powerbook (smaller form factor). Also, the drive you're looking at swapping is too thick for the Macbook case. I remember seeing similar questions last year on these forums...you may want to conduct a forum search.

Thanks for the reply, it seems that the new drives are 9.5mm and the old ones are 12.7. Looks like I will be "stretching" up to the mid-range macbook...

Cheers,

J
