has anyone noticed that the touchpad on the macbooks are about the exact same size as the multitouch screen from the iphone and ipod touch (just a few mm difference in size)

With the rumor that something different about the touchpad is coming on macbooks, isn't it obvious that Apple will make the touchpad an actual multitouch screen?

The parts are already designed and in production. They just need to use the iphone/ipod touch displays in the macbook.

Then you have a multitouch touchpad which also functions as a secondary screen (warning lights, email, news ticker, mirror of the current screen..) Think of all the uses!

Macbook Pro Touch anyone ???

I personally think that it would be a big deal to lose the MBP's keyboard backlighting, so I don't think it will have that keyboard. The screen would be awesome, but would programmers really add in features to take advantage of it if only one or two of Apple's products could take advantage?

sorry guys but macbook maybe not not macbook pro, i think the touch screen uses are more consumer, and pro users wouldnt want to mess with all that crap on their computers

That would be cool, but the white keys make it look cheap!!! Yuck....

If the black screen border does appear in the pro line, I hope they resurrect the black keypad from the Ti era to match, retaining metal though.

As long as there is a simple gesture to disengage the backlight when not using touch-centric apps, I could see an optical glass trackpad on both pro and consumer machines.
