just got brand new macbook and i noticed the trackpad has this different texture to it...some parts have this grainy kind of feel, you can feel the grain but can't see it...is this normal with new macbooks?

I also noticed this, it bothers me somewhat but not enough for me to complain considering my macbook is otherwise perfect.

Anyone else notice this?

I personally love the grainy feel, but enjoy it while it lasts because it'll become smooth and glossy after time :(

All you have to do to keep the grainy feel is not play with melted cheese before you use your laptop...

The grainy texture is supposed to be there, it makes it so you can slide your finger easily under most circumstances. I use an HP laptop at work, and its a flat smoothe surface that is impossible to slide my finger on smoothly. It jitters, sometimes I have to actually roll my finger to get any sort of accuracy.

it doesn't matter if you wash your hands in varsol before you use the Macbook, it wears out over time, end of story.

Are your hands made of sand paper? Do you play the guitar with both hands? How hard are you people pushing on your touchpads? I barely touch it with my fingers, never had one wear out. I had a Powerbook G4 for a long time and it NEVER EVER wore out.

My wife has a Macbook, rev a. Not worn out at all. She uses it like all day long.

I have the exact same thing on my MacBook. At first I thought there was a grain of sand stuck on my trackpad and I tried, unsucessfully, to remove it. I've since gotten used to it; but it should not be there. It is a blemish on my otherwise smooth trackpad. :(

I've found that the MBP trackpad is easier to use than the macbook's in terms of friction.

My brother has it. I don't. Odd. Both the same model.
