Hey guys. Need some help. I am getting the 2.0 ghz macbook and plan on upgrading the ram to 2 gigs and the harddrive to atleast 160gbs (something thats fast and quiet).

The problem is, even though i used the upgrade guide here, I don't know what is good and whats not. I have a budget of around $200 to 250 and i want to get good, reliable parts. I have boughten from newegg before so I would like to shop with them again. Could someone make a shopping list for me. What does everyone have or want in their macbooks?

i want 3gb in my macbook and i am saving for it right now, but 2 would be more than enough for me already, get a sleeve or a hard case if you want some extra protection for your beauty. About the HD I don't know what's bets or cheaper, I only have the 80 stock in my MB but use a P4 for storage...

I use Patriot RAM in my MacBook Pro and it works great and I've never had a problem with it. Here is the RAM I used, 2GB for just $100. For hard drives, I've had good experiences with Seagate, here's a 160GB notebook hard drive for $120. Both combined fit nicely into your budget.

The 160GB 5400RPM HD I'm looking at

And this is the RAM (1GBx2) I ordered for my macbook C2D 2.0GHz White (works flawlessly.. very happy.)

Are these good parts?

I just recently bought that HD from newegg. Obviously I thought it was a good choice, I still do. The drive is nearly silent, and I can't feel it spin up. Actually, things seems a tad bit faster after I installed it. I also bought an external case to put the original HD into, but first I put the new drive in the case and used SuperDuper to clone the original drive. Then just swapped the drives and was good to go.

I don't know about the RAM. I got my RAM from www.1800memory.com I used www.ramseeker.com to find it. I bought the cheap stuff and am quite satisfied with it. I'd compare the prices before buying. I'd trust the stuff newegg sells.

Go to directron.com. I have been buying stuff from them for a while and they are always good. They have 1gig sticks of Corsair DDR2 677 for 31.99, probably the cheapest I have seen it anywhere.
