Hi everyone.
I will begin doing an exchange year in august and i'd like to order my first ever mac, a macbook shortly after i arrive at my host family in Kansas. Because there's no apple store or reseller near their town, i will have to order it online.
I'd like a white 2ghz macbook with an 80gb hdd and 2gig of ram. I've been told that buying 2gb of ram from apple is way too expensive as there are much cheaper stores to buy from (I've heard the name Ramseeker quite a lot).
But I think the 45$ extra for an 80gb sized hdd at apple stores is worth it, since OSX will already be installed, and i wouldn't have to install it myself like i had to if i'd buy a hdd somewhere else. Like i said, it's my first ever mac and i have no experience in setting up a mac
Since I will be going to college for half a year in Kansas, i could make use of the "back to school" rebate and get an ipod for free. I don't really need one, so if there's a much cheaper option for getting my macbook i wouldn't mind buying it anywhere else!
One last thing, i don't really know how things work regarding taxes/vat and i thought you might help me
When i look for the cheapest price over here, it tells me that i wouldn't have to pay any tax if i'd order the macbook from pc connector, which makes it nearly 100$ cheaper than buying it from apple or other stores. how is it possible, that at some shops i have to pay tax, and at others i don't? Can i get the tax back at the end of the year or something?
thanks for helping to answer my (maybe stupid) questions!
