MacBook whine in Leopard

Hello,

I got a Rev. B MacBook last year in Dezember and it had the whine but I figured I'd live with it because it was not loud when it wasn't connected external power and there wasn't even a whine when I used my Bluetooth MM, wich I did most of the time.

Now, after I installed Leopard, my MacBook will whine even when I use my mouse and it will only shut up if I move the mouse. I figure it might have something to do with energy saving. Do you have any idea what to do or how to turn the off?

try installing shhmbp...this is supposed to work miracles...
I for myself had a similar issue (it was more a sizzling buzzing noise that was processor load independent)...sent my macbook in and a new logicboard fixed the issue...however, I wonder when it will start again...

Awesome! It works! I never installed it because I thought it was for MBPs only but it works! I will however only load it on demand, so I don't get limited battery live. Thanks however a lot!

you're very welcome...
just to be clear...once it is installed you do not have to load anything.
it just disables the idle status of your processor.

In my experience the battery life wasn't significantly affected by this utility...instead turning down the display brightness might do more.

Yes I know, but I have removed it from that StartUpItems Folder and load the kext when I need it. Makes me feel more comfortable. Maybe I'll write a little tool that will automatically load and unload it depending on if the MacBook is connected to external power or not. If I will write such a tool, I will let you know (in case anyone is interested).
