MacBook with Leopard: Can it run older OS's too?

I'm consdering purchasing a Mac Book in the near future, but have a question. I currently have a 4 year old IBook running 10.3.9 and have a lot of software and hardware which is not yet stable on Leopard (Pro Tools, for starters). I'm wondering if it is possible to use an external firewire drive (or partition the hard drive) to boot up in either 10.3 or 10.4 when I need to use the older applications? I've seen some conflicting info regarding the most recent MB's ability to run anything older than 10.5. Anyone doing this here successfully? And if so, how?

The new Santa Rosa based MacBook can only run Leopard. The video drivers can't be backported to Tiger.

It will definitally not work with 10.3 since that is PPC only, if there has been no hardware update by the time you buy, you may be able to get an origional install disk for the same model and get 10.4 on there, but usually you can't run a lower OS than what it shipped with.
