Well two days ago my computer started beachballing slowing down safari wouldnt launch, skype wouldnt, itunes wouldnt play well, but it was late and I went to bed. Yesterday I got up and it continued to I tried to backup, opened superduper and tried, however it ereased my backupdrive, and than crashed. So I manualy put some things on and went to school came home and tried runnning diskutilty, verified disk and it had some HFS problems, and when i repaired disk, it says there where none. Verified and it showed them again. I tried resarting and it gets to the apple logo and blue screens. I booted of the cd ran dik utilty and when id repair disk I got the hold the power button and restart your computer message (The semi transparent black one) I did that ad booted from the cd. TRied an archive and install, It verfied my disks and started and abount 30% blue screened I let it sit for about an hour, and than it shut down. I dont have a good backup, have homework on it, tons of art, and pictures that Id really not like to loose. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it or even what might have caused the problem? (Something similiar, but not as bad has happened twice before a renistall seems to fix it.) I should mention before attemting to archive and install i ran single user, fsck was not chcked and I got a handful of errors.

Thanks SO much.

i don't have suggestions for fixing it other than re-installing the OS. do you have another mac accessible? you can try booting yours into target disk mode and copy off your files (you can find instructions on target disk mode here, but basically you need to connect the computers via firewire, have the other mac running, and then boot your machine while holding down the 't' key.) then, get an external drive and copy your folders to that.

i just did this procedure about a week ago and was very very thankful and lucky to get away w/o losing anything. never again will i be w/o a backup...

I do have another mac available, Hwever I have no firewire cable available at the moment, Otherwise i would have tried Ill pick one up this afternoon. Thanks for helping. Im guessing this is a software issue, not hardware but cant figure out what it is, an why this is the third time. Any other ideas?

Thanks alot.
