so, here is my problem. i was doing a firmware update on my macbook (intel) just now, and in the middle of the update, my macbook just turned off. now when i try to turn on my macbook, the power light comes on, but the screen does not. i called tech support, we tried to hold down the power button until the power light flashed, didn't work. now he asked me to make the Firmware Restoration CD, which i am working on now. if that doesn't work, what else do you guys think i can do? i need my computer tomorrow and i live 3 hours from the nearest apple store! please help

Do you really need the data on your macbook?

If not, I recommend trying to boot from the disk 1 that came with your macbook...

1. what type of firmware update are u doing? for what hardware?
2. if u can put original OSX disk in there, will the machine boot from the disk?
3. if the machine boot, is there any disk utilities u can use to get your data out first?
4. any chance u can swap your harddrive with another mac?
