Intel MacbookPro 2020 i5, MacOS 12.1. Currently using a Logitech MX Master 3 mouse.

Recently, all of a sudden the left mouse button will stop working on both a Bluetooth mouse and the trackpad. The right button still works and the mouse pointer still can roll around the screen with both devices, but just can’t left click. There is no indication of battery swelling to prevent the trackpad from being depressed for a left click but the external mouse is exhibiting the same issue.

First it was every once in a while, now it’s almost every day and of course at the wrong times. It seems to get the mouse back I just have to give the Mac the Windows three finger death punch (i.e. hard reset) which is annoying amount because I lose work.

Sometime I think it happens after waking up from sleep but the timing of the event is random.

So looking for suggestions to troubleshoot as I’m a windows convert for about 2 years and really have no idea where to start. Please let me know your questions, thanks!

When that happens next, be sure to turn off the Logitech mouse, then try to click something with the trackpad.
If it were me... I would plug in a USB wired mouse (if you have one), and see if THAT gives the same issue.
Do you have the logitech software installed? I would suggest that you remove that software, and try without it (the mouse will still work, you just won't have the custom settings the app gives for the mouse, and you are just looking for basic functions now)

I have tried the trackpad with the MX off, no change. Lol I don’t know if I have a wired mouse anymore, but will get one and plug it in for next time. I’ll uninstall the Logiteck software.

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll report back.
