This is certainly part of the ongoing saga I'm having with this thing. I can audibly hear the hard drive crashing, usually at least once every 2 or 3 minutes. I am assuming this sound is not normal, correct? It is the sound of the head smacking either the disk or the side of the drive. Is there anything I can do to prove this to apple to they'll replace it when I get to the store? Meaning, any disk utilities or anything? My recent experience with the Genius bar is that they want some hard evidence before they replace anything...

Have you been moving your system around while it is on?

It might be due to the sudden motion sensors kicking in. Only advice I can give is.. perhaps backup your data carefully, and buy from a better manufacturer next time.

No, it does it when it's sitting still. You saying apple isn't a good manufacturer, I presume?
