I just got off the phone with Apple about my MacBook order and they told me that there is a "manufacturing delay" with the MacBooks. I'm not sure what the problem is, or if the MacBook Pros are effected, but this could mean they are fixing the heat/whine/moo/ect.:D

EDIT: My MacBook (ordered on July 3rd is being shipped on 18th July

MBPs delayed as well

I have the same experience. I ordered a MacBook and 17" MBP on 6 July through the UK online store, with 5-7 days shipping. Shipment was originally scheduled for today, but yesterday it suddenly changed to 19 July, with a cancellation by Apple of the MBP and new order line for it. No explanation from Apple by email or phone as to why they cancelled the MBP and created a new one, and the delay.

I rang customer services. They couldn't explain the cancellation and new order for the MBP. They did say though there are production delays across the laptop range.

It could mean they are updating to fix the problems people have been having, but it's more likely a shortage of one kind of component or another (like the CoreDuo itself.) Considering how Apple has handled the MacBook's problems so far, if the logic boards have been revised, I'd bet that they'd keep making the 'buggy' ones until the new ones were ready to start production.

Interesting. After reading your msg I checked my status on line and found my credit card had bounced (issue of on line order over some threshold); but Apple had not bothered to send me an email re this. So I called Apple, then my credit card company, and got that fixed.

And estimated ship date is still tomorrow (7/14) with arrival on or before 7/19. But it is a custom configuration and coming from overseas (not US) so perhaps that makes a difference re delays. We shall see:confused:

This is not looking good. Not only have Apple cancelled orders and "re-ordering" them, they arnt even telling people. Why Apple, why  ? And it doesnt seem to be an isolated problem either. I just checked my Order Status, and it hasnt been cancelled then orded again.

New input: My MacBook shipped from China today, 7/14 (actually last night). But estimated delivery is one week from today, even though I paid for expedited delivery. I'm hoping that part is wrong .. but time will tell.
