Macbooks made for lefties!?

Okay, so i just got a wired mighty mouse, and i havent decided whether i like the USB ports on the left since i use the mouse with my right hand. I run the cord behind the screen to get it out of the way, but it seems to me like the ports on the left make the wired mouse more easily used for left handed people.

So what do you guys do with wired mice on your macbooks? is the cord long enough, or does it get in the way and should i get the wireless one?

I have the same problem with my wireless microsoft laptop mouse. the signal is choppy sometimes because the mouse is basically behind the adapter that goes into the USB.

Seriously, I'd go Bluetooth unless you play games. Although, if you've never tried one, go check one out... because some people really end up hating them, and other people find that they adapt with a little practice and find them as usable as anything else (I use an Apple Wireless Mouse with my iMac -- I originally bought it for my iBook but I am almost always happy with just the trackpad).

i dig the trackpad, but my mum bought it for me. She said i could return it , but paying the extra 20$ or so for wireless seems like it would be silly if i can use this. It the wired might mouse, and the cord seems really short but i guess its good since it wont get in the way. But it doesnt really allow for lounging, like lying back and surfing the net, just clicking around and stuff..
I was thinking maybe people had a similar problem and found a solution, or love that about it..
meh, i am confused as to what i like..

laptop mouses have short cords but I always plugged it on the left hand side of my MBP (and im a righty). I find it's easier this way, and the cord on mine was just long enough. Obviously if you have a keyboard plugged in as well and you're far from your computer, this wont go far enough.

Call me old fashioned but I don't like mice with batteries in them. Like there is not enough waste in the landfills already

The trackpads on the Macbooks and Macbook Pros are VERY VERY good though. Other than games there is really not much reason to get a mouse, imo.

Rechargeables, baby... But I do feel you on the landfills. I hate how hard it is to get anyone to recycle your batteries.

Recycle Batteries

i recharge my alkalines. good for maybe 20 charges.
use the rayovac renewal charger and put regular old alkalines in it.
trim the plastic coating at the edge of the top of the battery so it will fit the charger.
i've got new unused batteries lying aorund dying of old age since i got with this thing.

AND I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM! (with batteries that is - women are a different story altogether.)

Hmm yeah 'tis. Very good indeed, I find myself using it more than I use my (wired) Mighty Mouse!

yeah i really do like the trackpads, This was a gift anyway. But i do lik ethe mice when you just wanna sit back and surf.. no typing really.. just clicking its easier on the hands.
I was just wondering if you guys have had cord problems, with the wireless mice, they have been getting terrible reviews on apple.com..
how long do the batteries last? and what size batteries to they take?
and are they consistent or does the signal come and go ?

NiMH rechargables. And they last for quite a while in these mighty mice between recharges. Seriously, the apple wireless mice and keyboards are AWESOME.

I don't know, yet because mine haven't died. Installed them on October 21, 2006 and they are still running. I would guess-timate my use averages 4 hours day. The mouse has a low-power state and is quite efficient.

not out of the question, but using a bunch of cables seems hardly ideal.

and would upgrading from a wired mighty mouse to a wireless mighty mouse be cheaper then buying this new extension cable?

This is a bad idea. For the same price as that large pack of alkalines, you could get some NiMHs and never purchase again. And you wouldn't have to worry about leaks and explosions.
