I recently purchased macdrive, so that i am able to use my MacOSX formatted external HD, from within windows when i am running boot camp. The only problem is, Macdrive allows me to not only access the files on my external HD, but also the files on my MacOSX partitioned HD.

Since in the past, i have never been too careful about where i browse, as well as never having any virus protection software on MacOSX, i am worried that .exe viruses located on my mac partition, may effect my windows partition.

In MacDrive options, i found there is the option to "Make all Mac disks Read Only", but the problem with that is, i won't be able to write files to my external HD.

So, my question is this, how can i change the settings of macdrive, so that i can only access particular Mac formatted hard drives, rather than all which are available.

I don't think this is possible with MacDrive.

In any case if you have anti-virus on Windows then have it scan all of your drives. Also if it has real-time scanning enabled it should detect a virus that is trying to execute from any drive or USB device.

hmm, my only concern about this, is that from windows, i can access encrypted and hidden mac OS files. Is there any danger of, by using a windows AV to scan my mac partition, damaging or deleting crucial OS files?

Can anyone who has tried this, confirm that it will work? My antivirus is AVG free edition.
