MacHD is locked

Tody, I run data recovery to scan my hard drive on Mac, it tells that my hard drive is locked and asks for a password. I never lock my hard drive, and don't know why/when it is locked..what happened...

Did you encrypt it with FileVault? That password would be the one you use to login to your Mac.

- what Mac you have
- what year it was made
- what OS is running on it
- is the hard drive the internal drive or an external one?
