iPod Machine authorizations

I apparently reached my maximum of authorized machines...but I don't know how. When I sold my TiBook, before I formatted it, should I have done a de-authorization? Even with that, there is my newer PowerBook and my iPod. And I've used JHymn, which supposedly authorizes itself with iTMS as another machine. I'm not sure if the iPod has to be authorized or not, but I shouldn't be maxed out yet.
Does anyone know if there is there a way to check what machines I have authorized through a web interface or contacting Apple?

I think you should have de-authorized. It's also possible that you did an upgrade at some point, didn't de-authorize, and when you re-auth'd the same computer, it took up two slots. This has happened, although for me, I didn't de-auth Panther, and had to re-auth in Tiger, and it still reports me as having only one computer authorized.

In the iTunes store, you can check the number of authorizations by clicking on your account name in the upper right, typing your password in, and choosing the view account option. But I think you need to call them and have them reset you (deauthorize everyone). And, ahem, I would avoid mentioning JHymn to them at this time.

Go to the itunes music store and click on your account. After you type your password, you should get a screen giving the details of your account. I don't think it will tell each specific computer, but it will give you a count of how many are authorized.

Also, I was reading on the Apple support page here (at the bottom of the page) that there is now a way to deauthorize all computers online. Maybe we've always been able to, but I'm slow sometimes!

I have iTunes on my PC and it was having issues. It would crap out after a week and I had to keep reinstalling Windows. It turns out it was a couple of bad drivers. After all was said and done, I had maxed out my number of authorizations in the process. I just sent an email to Apple and they reset my account. They also called me a liar saying that iTunes recognizes the machine and reformatting doesn't matter, but thats another story.
