Hey All
I bought a 24 inch IMac Jan 18th and its clear that the left side of the screen is brighter then the right I told them about the issue and they said they cant refund Apple Products. Im pretty pissed off that I spent about 1800 dollars on something that is defective that is complete bs if you ask me. How can they sell something that is not in proper working condition. What are my options right now I will never order from Mac Mall again they sell something thats defective then they say screw you. I payed via my bank card any help from anyone.

While this is clearly lousy customer service I think you do have some options. I would take it into the nearest Apple store (hopefully you have one nearby). Show the geniuses the issue and ask them what they can do for you. At the least they are obligated under warranty to offer a resolution, at best they may swap it out for you. It's worth a shot and Apple stores are notorious for great service, it is an Apple product regardless of where it was purchased.

You have certain purchasing rights if you paid via a bank/credit card. The best thing to do is to speak with your bank and initiate a dispute. Disputes can often be filed when you don't receive the quality of product that you were promised. And don't worry...these disputes aren't something that just "get filed away." Banks/Credit card companies are required to resolve the problem by law (I'm a Bank Officer at my local bank).

So what route do I take like what do I tell them it was not as described and what they file a dispute and I get my money back?

Sure he could do that, but it would probably be much quicker, and easier to just bring it to the Apple Store and swap it for a new one (assuming there's an Apple store nearby)

Honestly, this isn't a problem with Mac Mall. They clearly state that they don't offer refunds or returns on Apple products. Period. Any problems are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Doing a CC dispute probably isn't what you want to do, as I'm sure you got some "free" stuff with the computer by ordering through Mac Mall. It will also take you a while to get your money back, if you do at all, because the computer isn't defective, it just has a flaw that is probably covered under the existing manufacturer's warranty.

Just go to Apple (Store would be the best, AppleCare next) and explain the situation to them. It will probably be faster and less of a headache than going through your CC company.

Yep, I agree. Call Apple, tell them about the problem and they'll take care of it.

I agree, Their policy is cut and dry. They DO NOT refund any Apple products. It is up to you to bring it to an Apple store to get it fixed, or if need be, replaced.

I thought long and hard before I ordered my Macbook from Macmall. It is a chance you have to take to save a few bucks, and get some free stuff. If you don't want to abide by their NO return policy there is always the Apple Stores, Apple On-line, Amazon or any other authorized dealers who have a better return policy

You are not the first one who has dealt with this issue. But if you bring it back to Apple, they will take care of your problem.

Their policy:

APPLE COMPUTER PRODUCTS:

Apple products are non-returnable: Apple Computer offers a one year warranty on all new equipment. During the warranty period, you may call 1-800-275-2273 to receive warranty service. Apple will attempt to solve your problem via phone. If they are unable to solve the problem, they will either dispatch a replacement via Airborne Express or will direct you to the closest Apple service center. In most cases, contacting the 800 number is the most expedient manner to obtain warranty service on Apple equipment. If a situation extends beyond Apple or an Apple service center's ability to resolve, please contact your MacMall representative for further guidance.

I'm not in the US so I don't know how the laws work over there, but in NZ it is illegal for retailers to "contract out" of obligations, so they must supply working products and accept returns. It might be easier to talk to Apple, but you're likely able to return the system to the retailer if need be.

Ahh, I did not realize that their policy clearly stated no returns on Apple products...my apologies. In that case, then, I would also recommend taking it to an Apple store. They (Apple) are usually very good with things like this anyway.

With respect to someone's comment about not getting money quickly when you file a dispute: Companies only have 10 days to give you provisional credit (just an FYI).
