so i took the plunged and ordered my Air though MacMall, lots of people on here said they are good lots said they are bad ... So this is my experience with them

I called this morning to place an order, it went fine, the guy tried to sell me extra warranty, bigger hard drive, a mouse and the more i said no the more he got irritated that i didn't want to buy anything but the computer.

So fine, he placed the order then i got a call saying they can't process it but the money was taken out of my credit card, so i called and i was like why can't it be processed if you took the money from me already.

He went on to say he can't find me in the people search, so he can't ship it to me because he can verify my address. I go i am not listed in the phone book because it is a business address and i am using my business card to order it then he wanted my previous two address but the business didn't have two previous addresses. Then he said he would call me.

Then they charged my card again and i got another email from someone else i needed to call to verify my address. At this point i am going mad because if the credit card company can verify my address and accept the charge they are placing why on earth can't they verify my address.

So i called in and he starts off with the same store as above, can't find me in the white pages or people finder.

At the point i got fed-up and cancelled the order, so instead of cancelling my order like he said he would i get a phone call from someone else asking my to verify my address again. I said i spoke with a guy 10 minutes ago and order was to be cancelled she said no, it is not. It took them forever to cancel my order.

They waisted 2 hours of my time for something that any company with a brain can accomplish. They are all crazy over there it seems.

I called apple 30 minutes later, they took my order, processed my card, and verified my shipping address and they said it will ship in 1 to 3 days.

MacMall sucks big time, they should hire more competent people

those of u that had great experiences you are lucky :)

Just do it over online. It's cheaper. Macmall is cheaper yes, but they offer awful customer service. Apple offers way better service.

I love macmall now :)

I was on the fence between ordering with them or apple. It seemed like apple would get my mb air to be a day or two sooner, but since tax is included, it would cost about $100 more. I ended up going with macmall, even though my computer wasn't supposed to even "ship" until nov 10 (this is what they told me on the phone).

However I get a knock on my door nov. 5th (my birthday) with my shiny new computer waiting there for me. Best birthday miracle ever. Couldn't be happier. Saved money + got it sooner than expected = good experience.

they have said free shipping and charged me extra without my knowledge. Macmall have tried to ignore my calls saying we'll get back to u. i told them i am going to file a fraud complaint with my cc and they have refunded the extra money. I guess it's a bit of a hassle coz it is a bit cheaper. but one big risk with macmall if the mba is defective, it is hard to return to them and someone here was saying they don't accept regular 14 day returns.

When did you place the order? And how long did it take to get to you??

I've had good luck with MacMall in the past but have always ordered online. It's a salesman's job to try to sell extras; so avoid that with online ordering. Now MacMall has started charging sales tax on orders/shipments to Colorado so I guess I'll buy elsewhere next time.

I placed my order of 13" MBA 4GB 256G from MacMall the last weekend of October. I first tried online, and noticed that they just had one machine left with that configuration, but it did not take my order, so I had to call in midnight for a phone order. They promised Monday (11/1) shipping.

On Monday I got email and voice message from their credit verification department to confirm the order, and I also just read that there is a further discount through Appleinsiderad links. I asked them during the verification for the additional discount, but they said I had to ask their order department. They also told me the machine was baack ordered to 11/10. I was quite disappointed, and called in later to ask for a new order with the Appleinsider discount. The order guy found I already had one MBA order on file and asked why. So I told him the discount and delayed shipping. He said he will apply the discount and I did not need to make a new order. Soon I got an update email about my order showing the new price and backorder.

Then on Thursday the 4th, an email showing the MBA has been shipped, and got it on Friday well ahead of the back order date!

Overall, for $1610 (extra $50), it is really a nice deal, and MacMall has always been very good, with no push or oversale. Another point, if you do not want to give your personal information for the order, they might become concerns. So I say go for it!

I ordered my 11-4gb-128-1.6 online on Thursday evening - nice man in the brown truck delivered my shiny wee new computer Monday afternoon. No shipping charge, no tax, no hassle. I try not to talk to a human being in the ordering process unless I absolutely have to...in this particular case it sure went like clockwork for me.

To be fair, that's more the result of the credit card company's sensitive fraud scanners. I get that almost every time I order a computer or purchase an airline ticket to go overseas. If you exceed a typical purchase size, or order from a new company or from a category of retailers for which there are lots of fraudulent transactions (and tech is definitely one of them), then you are highly likely to have the transaction blocked on your first attempt.

I prefer to order from Expercom or Smalldog. Although not as cheap as MacMall their customer service and ordering experience is excellent.

Macmall did the same thing to me - they charged $20+ for ground shipping when shipping was supposed to be free. Apparently it was due to a "glitch" (yeah, right) and the salesperson would credit the order once it shipped. Righhhhhht..
