Hi,
Not sure whether this has been posted here before, I'm guessing it has although cannot find it, so here goes

Looking to sell iMac 24" and purchase New MacMini... Just not sure whether it will be a good move...?

Sorry, not familiar with that seller/drive---why are you moving from an iMac to a Mini? Unless you have the earliest 24" version (and even that may be faster), you're looking at a lateral move at best performance wise, maybe even a step back. Unless you're looking to use the Mini solely as an HTPC, I'd just get an external BD drive and stick with your iMac.

And while I'm far from an expert, I don't think some of the information provide on that website regarding blu-ray functionality is accurate. As far as I know, you cannot view native blu-ray disks in OS X without jumping through some significant hoops and even then require a pretty powerful rig. You can watch ripped files (the only OS X solution to do this that I'm aware off is MakeMKV) using VLC but not native blu-ray disks. Also, they're also installing it in the last gen Mini so you may want to contact them to verify it will fit in the newest Mini. Also if you haven't done so already, head over to www.ifixit.com to make sure you're comfortable with the procedure to replace the optical drive in the new Mini--much more difficult than with the previous model.

Again, even if you do decide to get a Mini, I'd suggest an external drive--can be found much cheaper and no need for 'surgery' on the Mini.

Currently have the early 2009 24" model.
2.4Ghz
2 GB RAM
32gb HDD

so spec wise it's the same, as standard anyway.
I was looking to use it as a HTPC, to stream using Plex, but looking further into it, I can also use the iMAC for this and run Townky I beleive.

Looking to get a PS3 in the near future so that will solve BD "issues" :thumbsup:

Also been looking at the Sonos gear and a NAS.
