I'm trying to download macOS 11.4 on my Mac Mini (2018) and the download is crawling along at snail pace. Interestingly, I've just downloaded the Garageband loops etc (something I forgot to do a while back when I did a full erase and install at the turn of the year) and that was 2.12GB which downloaded in just over 2 mins. The 11.4 update is weighing in at 3.52GB and it keeps bombing out - eventually.

My Internet speed is fine - it downloaded GarageBand no probs. Speedtests come back fine too at around 100-120Mb. Apple Servers/Services are supposed to be all fine too (at the time of checking before I posted this). I've done all the usual, reboot Mac, reboot router.
I've got the latest LittleSnitch installed but can't see anything being blocked or denied. I'm updating from 11.3.1

I'm getting somewhat tired of macOS recently and I've been using Macs since 1988. The software and bugs just seem to be getting worse. Another issue I keep running into is with my Logitech MX Keys and MX Vertical. I'm running a Dell 4K monitor and the Monitor, KB & Mouse all work fine under Win10 which I use for work, but every now and again I lose my display - just goes blank. And the Mac doesn't respond to any input from my KB &Mouse... Yet they all work fine with Win10 and the KB & Mouse work fine with my iPad... I'm just having a moan now. Anyway... Any help appreciated.

PS, in the time it has taken me to write this the update has downloaded 1.7MB of 3.52GB. Absolutely pathetic.

Is there anything I need to clear out anywhere?

phalse,

I had the same problem yesterday. I downloaded one BS update for my desktop which went relatively quickly. After that I tried the same download for my Macbook Pro and it took forever! Well, actually overnight - I just left it downloading and went to bed. This morning it was already installed, so I concluded Apple's BS update servers were overloaded and slowed to a crawl...

Yeah, I tried yesterday but it kept on starting again from scratch today. I'll see how it goes as it hasn't bombed out yet and is on 146MB now... It's like being on dial-up again!

I upgrade from 11.3.1 to 11.4 a few days ago.

Speed is 5MB/s, very fast.

Very odd. Mine upgraded eventually… The fact that I was downloading GarageBand loops and a Linux distro moments before and WAN stats from my router showed no break in connection or dip in performance from my IPS, suggest the problem was with Apple or my macOS install.
