I've two printers:
  • HP Envy Photo 6230 (Inkjet)
  • HP Laserjet CP1025w color
Under beta 1 of developer preview, I didn't notice any printing issues.

During betas 2 and 3 of the developer preview of macOS 12, I found that some of my documents aren't printing correctly.

Letters move position within their sentence and therefore become squashed. See the attached image for an example.

I've removed the printer and readded it, no change. I've tried on a non-beta device running Big Sur, and all is okay.

Of course, I don't expect things to be perfect in beta cycles, I wondered if others had issues and if there was a workaround? (Beyond printing from another device!)

What printer driving are you using? I’d try using the generic driver to see if it makes a difference.

Thank you for the reply.

I've tried with the one it auto-selected which is titled. "HP Envy 6200 series"

Pre-macOS 12 it always came up as "Secure AirPrint" or "AirPrint"

I've changed it to a Generic PCL Printer. and tested again. Unfortunately, it does the same thing with the characters.

Interesting. Are you unable to manually select the AirPrint driver?
As I recall, as a workaround you can print directly to the printer by logging in directly to it using its IP address, and then uploading a PDF.

Doesn't have Secure AirPrint or AirPrint listed under macOS 12. Checked on a Big Sur device, and it's still there for those (so not an HP firmware update that's changed things). [See attachment]

I've added it by IP address, and I was able to select PostScript rather than PCL. Sent a test print via standard printing routine and pulled through page after page printing nothing on each sheet.

I've used the HP ePrint email address (sending a PDF via that) and that has printed correctly, albeit in lower quality and monochrome (versus the colour it is).

Good I've a work around - looks like I will need to await some driver updates, be they embedded to macOS by Apple, or provided by HP.

I am finding everything is printing in B&W. Whether it's Safari, Excel, or Preview. The color drivers seems to be missing!

I have the same issues. I print Hungarian characters, so maybe this issue is related to special characters.
I have the same problem if I print the document from my iphone or ipad as well.
Have you found any solution, workaround?

I’m having the same problem with an HP Officejet 6970. My iPhone and iPad work fine but the latest beta of Monterrey thinks the printer is offline I deleted the printer and readied it by IP address but it still didn’t work. There is a driver update on the HP site but since the Mac thinks the printer is offline it can’t download it to the printer

maybe it will be fixed in the next beta. In the I guess I can print to PDF and email the file to my iPhone and print from there
Munless some body has some ideas

my wireless network sees the printer but the Mac won’t enable it

I have same printing problems on EPSON printers (I have two models). Filled feedback with Apple but no fix so far. Incorrect printing occur also for remote printer drivers. Everything is fine for bitmaps but PostScript printing (PDFs etc) have problems. Concatenating some international characters and similar problems for character baseline. I've tried to add and remove printers and possibly everything else with no success. It only happen in betas if you sent PDF to different system or print from iOS it prints fine.

Check the HP website under Support > Drivers. Looks like there's a firmware update for Envy 6200 series printers released on March 18, 2021. Couldn't find anything for the Laserjet CP1025w.

Looks like yours has a firmware update, too. Not sure if you did that or if it helped.

I'm having trouble with a Xerox (true) postscript printer.

True postscript usually means minimal trouble - but Big Sur also introduced postscript bugs

Has this issue been fixed? I'm running Monterey on a 2020 Macbook Pro and an HP OfficeJet 5255. It worked fine with BigSur. Now, if I want my printer to work, I have to turn it off and back on, then I have about 5 minutes before it stops working again and has to be turned off and back on again. I cannot scan from it at all, receiving the 21345 error message.

I can airPrint from an iphone and iPad. All my firmware is up to date. All my drivers are up to date.

I'm running Monterey on a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015). I'm having trouble with the moving "i" on a Konica Minolta Bizhub c250i using the font Montserrat. I changed fonts and it looked right, but the company font is Montserrat. I reinstalled the font and the printer driver. Printed from Pages, Preview, and Acrobat. No joy. Emailed it to a Windows-using colleague and it printed properly for her.
