fileproviderctl is bugged on 13.6, and crashes immediately when run.

see: fileproviderctl crashing every time

Here's a comparison of the output of codesign -dv --entitlements - /usr/bin/fileproviderctl on 13.5 vs 13.6 - looks like a new com.apple.private.amfi.version-restriction in the entitlements section, not sure what that does but it's the only meaningful difference I can see...

The same in 12.7 (21G816), “zsh: killed fileproviderctl”

What fileproviderctl does?
From the manual:
"fileproviderctl allows you to control the fileproviderd daemon and enumerate and manipulate files."
man fileproviderctl in Terminal or https://keith.github.io/xcode-man-pages/fileproviderctl.1.html
File Provider https://developer.apple.com/documentation/fileprovider/

And how that bug affect us ?
If you don't know what it is, and don't use it—it probably won't affect you.

But some people use this tool to control and work with apps that use the FileProvider API: such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, ShellFish, etc.

13.6 issue I'm seeing: System Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services: Siri & Dictation has a generic blank document icon. It may be because it's disabled, however.

Anyone else want to check and see what they see?

And it can affect any apps which access files in ~/Library/CloudStorage outside the file system. I am currently in discussion with ChronoSync for which its file provider synchronisation (for local backup) no longer works.

This issue may affect macOS 14 as well. Seems to be related to the fix for https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2023-41984. If so this is typical Apple - fix a rare security bug and introduce new problems.
