Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"
  • macOS 14 Sonoma will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this and the update won’t install with an installer.

Also comes with Safari 17.4.

Protected HTTP streaming playback shows some evidence of further optimization on Intel 2018+; live event playback (esp. 60 fps) seems better quality.

Fair warning: I've seen this kind of optimization appear in one beta and then go back to old poorer quality between betas

So i just updated my m3 Max laptop to Sonoma 14.4 beta and i am having issues with my external monitors. One of my two displays no longer works no matter how hard i try. Before updating my two external monitors (connected to a dongle via HDMI) worked just fine with my mac. I even tested the dongle on my girlfriends laptop (not updated to 14.4) and both of the displays work there too so i know its not an issue with the monitors, cables, or dongle. Any ideas how to fix this or is it just a new bug with 14.4 beta? I attached two photos. One of them is all the monitors working with my girlfriend's laptop. The other photo show the single black screen not working. any help or ideas?

About to update, hopefully HDR is fixed
But oh well. I should temper my expectations. Still a buggy mess throughout

Anytime I reboot, the progress bar upon login now takes about the longest it has ever taken since I started using Macs with SSDs. Massive delay until the system fully boots to the desktop. Was several minutes the very first time, now is around a minute it seems.

Might have something to do with external drives being connected but haven't been able to mess with it any further to test.

I've seen this a lot with most versions of Sonoma, that Finder in general just slows to a crawl due to external drives being connected.

Hmm, My boot time with with all previous Sonoma builds was very long👎🏼 With the Betas of 14.4 the boot is now much faster👍🏻

I'm still getting

Allow screen capture in ....

This application will be able to capture your screen and audio.

You're not the only one experiencing this.

Since installing this beta, two of my third-party apps show this kind of dialog box on startup, even though I've previously given them the permissions they are asking for.

Mildly annoying, but overall this beta is running pretty well on my 2022 M2 MBA. And like another commenter reported, bootup and shutdown times are significantly reduced. I'm happy about that, because for me they've been noticeably longer in all previous versions of macOS 14 than macOS 13.
