I didn’t know macOS has been released. How long was I gone?

Edit: macOS 26

MacOS 26 seems slow. Scrolling, typing, etc all feels delayed, is this an issue with the OS or is it something else? What are probable causes of this?
I have noticed this as well. There is a dramatic difference when restarting the app in question. Something is building up and not being cleared properly. Fingers crossed it will be resolved in the next beta.

The name is so fitting.
For future reference, restarting is troubleshooting step #1…
Don’t expect the first beta to perform well is #2 in this case.

I haven't noticed any real slowdowns or glitches with my MBP, despite running a lot of development and graphic design apps on this machine.

For anyone with slow opening apps, did you upgrade from MacOS 15 to 26 or just install 26 fresh without any backups imported?

If you imported a backup, it could include corrupted caches or similar old junk that could cause you problems. You can look at clearing those for a potential fix. I don't know about running them on MacOS 26, but they work on MacOS 15 so your mileage may vary.

If you can’t diagnose and resolve this issue yourself, on the developer beta, then the developer beta is not for you, and the best course of action is to reset your Mac and reinstall a production version of macOS.

Betas (especially early ones) probably have a bunch of debug and unoptimised (i.e., get it working, then make it fast once it works!) code, do not expect them to be fast.

The dev betas are literally for developers to test against and develop new features against - not intended to run as your primary device for daily use. They are not representative of the final product and typically aren't even anywhere near as polished the first public beta.

It should be hard to make an M# model lag, regardless of what people are saying about it being a beta, there should be no particular reason for it to slightly lag.
notice the weasel words

also, first impressions matter, beta or not. windows vista can tell you that.

My only complain so far is battery life but it is expected. System feels as snappy as the older version and quite stable so far.
