macOS appending 1 to drive name

Anybody know why Sierra is appending a number 1 to my Time Machine drive name?

If i try to edit it the change doesn't stick. A reboot didn't help. Do you know how to remove the number 1?

Eject the disk. Go to /Volumes/ and see if there's a stuck link called "LaCie Time Machine" - if so delete it. Re-connect disk & rename.

Or just call it something different, like "LaCie Backup"
