Apple Music on macOS decided not to sync my playlist at all.

Everything is set up with Sync turned on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204926

Songs are added to the playlist on Apple Music via macOS but get reverted from the iPhone version every time. I even deleted the playlist on the Apple Music app on macOS, it has no effect on the Apple Music on iPhone.

edit: Corrected the thread title.

No setting changes and today Apple Music on macOS decided not to sync my playlist at all.

I understand your problems, I'm just quitting Apple Music. Nothing works anymore anyway. I'll go back to Cd's & DVDs I guess.

I am having far too many problems with the Music app and Apple Music. Songs appear after being deleted, disappear after being added, not marked Liked after I have Liked, etc. Both uploaded songs and Apple Music songs. This app has to be the biggest disaster from Apple with no acknowledgement to fix anything from it.

I understand this is a known issue from Apple, but does anyone know of a temporary workaround?

Creating a new playlist will sync, and sometimes that will trigger other changes to sync as well, but it isn't reliable. Supposedly any changes made on the web version will sync to the Mac, but what you can do there is limited and slow.

One guy has posted that you can boot into safe mode and then music will sync, that's interesting but not a practical solution.

Otherwise, just waiting for 12.4 to see if it gets fixed.

To add to that, I’d say that even though they might not sync to the Mac, changes made in iOS seem safe in that they don’t revert like they do on MacOS. Those changes will sync to the cloud and among iOS devices.

So what I’ve been doing is: create the playlist on the Mac, ordering the songs like I want; then select all the songs and create a new playlist (since the original playlist will often revert any changes); then manually sync the library. That process has been reliable for me to at least get the playlist to sync to iOS. From there, make any changes you want in iOS, and they seem to stick even though they may not sync back to the Mac. You can also delete the original playlist using iOS and that will stick.

Occasionally for me, though not always, doing a manual sync on the Mac will bring over previous changes from iOS. Sometimes just after waiting a few days, they will appear.

Yeah, it’s a pain. Another route could be to just make your playlists in Spotify and then use an app like SongShift to bring it over to Apple Music.

Initial tests with 12.4 has Music synching properly, but I've been fooled before.

Mine isn't working. Maybe I need to add some stuff on my phone to get my Mac to trigger a refresh.

I didn't do anything special, other than adding songs to a playlist that I already had, and checked on my iPhone and they appeared right away, versus they would have taken 5-10 minutes for them to appear.

So. I think I might have a different problem than you did.

If I add a new playlist on the phone, it shows up on the Mac almost immediately, as expected. My problem is my library of songs on the Mac shows about 6,900 songs, but my full library (which is shown on the phone) is actually 9,200 songs. So, although the playlists are updating and even new albums are updating, somehow the list of songs isn't.

Had to restart Music this morning to get it to sync a bunch of songs that I'd added on my phone. So, working still, but not 100%.
