According to BS technical specs, I need 35.5gb to update. But is that storage needed only for the upgrade needed from Catalina to BS or is 35.5gb needed for all updates in BS. For context i want to update to 11.6, and i have 26.63gb free, and 11.6 is 6.17gb in size, so i should be ok for updating without any deletion of unnecessary files right? PS - I am on BS already.

Only to upgrade, Big Sur takes only a couple of GB more than Catalina (because it contains the binaries for the M1 Macs too).

Ok so if i have 26gb before downloading update and after downloading i have around 20gb free, macOS Big Sur 11.6 can update with only 20gb free right? No need for 35.5 gb free?
