so I just upgraded from macos13 to 14.7.1 and my macos dictionary has lost most of its dictionaries...
like the oxford english thesaurus... anybody having such issues?
they are gone from the list in the preferences window.
this is terrible, I urgently need those back!

I noticed this recently with the updates to Sonoma. What happens with me when I turn on the Mac Dictionary app is that it'll say it's downloading, and then I click Dictionary => Settings and then I see all those Oxford English Thesaurus, etc. are all at the very bottom (or near the bottom) of that menu of all the dictionaries.

After they're done downloading it works fine, but you have to scroll down. They're at the very bottom of the dictionary results unless you move them back up in that Settings menu.

Then it seems on the next reboot and it happens all over again. So it seems to me that somehow these dictionaries are deleted upon system shutdown?

I plan to update to macOS Sequoia in early October and hopefully this problem is resolved in that version...

oh brother you just made my day, thank you and God bless you!

been fuming last night, and the first thing I got when doing a search on this issue was an add for some ten buck dictionary app
this upgrade really effed my machine up, tons of stuff didn't work properly no more...
was just about to try going back to macos13. seems ok now as far as I can tell...

apple turning to crapple ever more... I so wish they'd just stop churning out upgrade after upgrade and instead do a slower but cleaner job, like back fifteen years ago!

gotta work now, but I'll try the reboot soon...

regarding the macos15 upgrade, I'll wait, at least until release 15.3... the quality is too low usually before that...
