Multiple times per day my Gmail account in Mail will go offline even though I maintain a constant connection and the machine doesn't go to sleep. This just recently started happening and even clicking Take All Accounts Online doesn't fix the issue. The only solution is to quit and restart Mail which gets pretty annoying.

Any ideas?

Im glad (but not really) that somebody else has run into this problem. ITs doing it multiple times a day. I have several Gmail accounts and its really annoying. It started about a week ago. No idea how to fix it.

I have a similar problem with a Verizon mail account. Now that it's clear that this problem goes beyond my own setup, it looks like Apple has broken something with IMAP.

Seeing this on both Big Sur and Catalina, spanning a MBA and iMac. Definitely a Google issue. Not seeing this using my iCloud or Outlook calendars, so can safely say not a calendar app issue. Hopefully this will be sorted out by big G.

In case others are following this thread, it had gotten better for a couple days and now back to the same problem. This is very frustrating and is making me think it may be time to jump ship to a third party email client.

Same problem in Mojave, Apple Mail.
It was working much better till I had the pop3 account, but since Google sent an email to switch to imap because it would not support "less secure app" referring to AppleMail
Since then all the issues started.

Update found on Apple forums
Delete "com.apple.mail-shared" in ~Library/Preferences/
I deleted and for now it seems working
