It fixes the issue where firewire cameras would not show in the list of available cameras in any app. Works great in 12.4.

Google Maps seems to be working without freezing now.

Hopefully my M1Air will no longer quit charging once a day (usually around noon or midnight) till it drops to 90%.

At least on my machine (2012 quad Mini with OCLP 0.44), this update seems to have broken the Brave browser. It may be only the Intel build since it didn't cause a problem with my M1 MBA.

[Edit to add -- my bad, nothing to see here. I forgot to run the OCLP post-install patch for the graphics. I ran it and rebooted, and it all works fine now. Interestingly, though, other browsers -- including other Chromium-based browsers -- did not break in the same way.]

Apple Music version 1.2.4.3 - not sure if this is the new or old version. But the playlist sync is now fixed.

It took 20 some years to go from macOS 10.0 to 11.0
It took 13 months to go from macOS 11.0 to 11.6
It's now 6 months and we are already up to macOS 12.4.

My predictions
Aug 2022 - macOS 13.0
Nov 2022 - macOS 14.0
Dec 2022 Week 1 - macOS 15
Dec 2022 Week 2 - macOS 16
Dec 2022 Week 2, Fri. - macOS 17
Dec 2022 Week 3 - macOS 18, 19, 20

Jan 2023 - Apple disappears up its own fundamental trying to bring out major releases first every hour, then every minute, then every second...

Or, it could be that what Apple now calls a point release should really be a minor update.

Perhaps Apple should slow down, rethink its release numbering and just take care with updates, otherwise they will end up like M$, having to get clients to uninstall updates because they broke something.

Those 10.x updates were major updates like iOS going from 8 > 9 > 10.

Now Apple made the update numbering system easier like iOS.

Frankly, I like the new macOS numbering system better. Remember what the OS version is all marketing.

Apple started the new numbering system with the release of the new ARM M1 Macs. They just unified the number system. After all macOS was the odd duck.

Now macOS follow the iOS numbering ways. This year is macOS 13, next year is macOS 14.

iOS now is up to 15.5 and this year it will be iOS 16. I don't even get why it''s confusing to you.

How is this any different to the 10.x and 10.x.x updates we used to get?

Apple just simplied the numbering. It so confusing before.

Quick question to you guys who have it already, did it fix the external display arrangement? Also how's the memory usage?

Downloading now on my M1 Pro...

I installed it last night, have been running it since then but have been using the system for about 90 minutes. It's pretty fast at using up RAM - mys system is using up 15.59 GB for OS and programs and 15 GB cache. In earlier versions, it would take longer to get up to those levels. The system has been running just fine though. I am really glad that I went with 32 GB of RAM. The most annoying problem that I've had with Monterey is the network going out for some websites. Some work and some don't and I don't know why this happens but I have to reboot about once a week because of the problem. The memory leak issues are much better than the original Monterey release - I somewhat suspect that there are some still around. My RAM use should be static - I'll keep an eye to see if it rises over time.

Lol. macOS versioning style was changed to match iOS. It’s much better. This way we won’t end up with updates like 10.18.7 Supplemental update 2 or 2 years worth of security updates on the same version (like Catalina right now).

Is the doubletap on the trackpad still horrible? It has been like that since upgrading from Catalina to Monterey.

Apple should spend a year or two fixing all the damn bugs rather than popping out a new OS every year.

You know Apple did fix bugs in 12.4. They fixed 54 security bugs and a firmware bug that was causing the 2013 Mac Pro to freeze was also fixed.

But yeah Apple needs to hire even more people for the bug/QA team.

Anyone experiencing issues with Safari not loading websites randomly or taking a very long time to load websites? Ever since updating to 12.4, Safari has been extremely unreliable in loading websites. Some will not load and I have to try a few times, others take a long time to load or render.

When I try the websites in Google Chrome, they load instantly.
